What is Community Acupuncture?
Community acupuncture's aim is to make acupuncture more affordable to more people so they can have this awesome medicine in their lives more regularly.
To make that happen, treatments are given in a peaceful shared-room space on reclining chairs. A Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach to needling is used which allows clients to remain clothed during sessions in the group room environment.
What is the Cost?
Community acupuncture clinics have varying models of payment. Ottawa Community Acupuncture uses a household income payment system, so your treatment price is based on your combined household income (eg. in a co-habitating partnership of 2+ years):
$55 $150K or more per year
$50 $100K - $150K per year
$45 $50K - $100K per year
$40 $50K or less per year
Ontario Works ($35) & Ontario Disability ($30)
Proof of Income Required
OCA has a few special treatment offerings which have their own price point. These can be seen
in the treatment descriptions on the booking site.
Meet Rachel
Rachel became a Registered Acupuncturist in 2016 after graduating from Pacific Rim College in Victoria, B.C. She fell in love with the community acupuncture model literally at first sight and was at acupuncture school within months of their first meeting. After practicing community acupuncture in Toronto, she moved to Ottawa to open OCA in 2019.
When not at the adult acu nap hive, Rachel can be found on xc-skis, swimming at Meech Lake (the great love of her Ottawa life), listening to NBA podcasts, or reading spiritual philosophy in a park somewhere.
