Ottawa Community Acupuncture acknowledges that its practice sits on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin nation. We recognize their historical connection to this place and the many generations who have taken care of this land

Rachel Lipton, R.Ac

Rachel is a community acupuncture enthusiast who began her practice in 2016. She is a registered acupuncturist and licensed member of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario. She studied acupuncture at Pacific Rim College in Victoria, BC.

"I first encountered community acupuncture in 2011 and knew I had stumbled across something game-changing. I was riveted  by the shared treatment room concept - this place where people could walk their own healing path but do so in the energetic company of others. And I loved the commitment to affordability and patient access. It was all so simple, so clear, so generous. I knew this was what I wanted to do, and what I wanted to build and create somewhere someday."

Returning home to Ontario, Rachel worked as a staff acupuncturist at Toronto Community Acupuncture and Toronto Acupuncture Studio, honing her practitioner skills and giving over 6,000 treatments.

In 2018, Rachel moved to Ottawa with the dream of spreading the community acupuncture model more widely across Canada. Ottawa Community Acupuncture opened its doors in May 2019.

Rachel is a member of POCA, the People's Organization of Community Acupuncture, a continent-wide movement of practitioners dedicated to affordable care. You can read more about POCA here.
